Valley Youth House is Hiring a Clinical Counselor (FT) Near York, PA
- Facilitate therapeutic groups (1x per month for the family counselor and 2x per month for the crisis counselor. The youth focused sessions should incorporate art, play, experiential, narrative and/or music therapy methods).
- Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork per the Counselor Paperwork Guidelines document.
- Provide direct service to clients as assigned (Family based intensive services to 8 families with a minimum of 17 direct service hours a week. Crisis services a minimum of 8 direct service hours per week. The Crisis workers hours will be more fluid given the nature of the work).
- Collaborate with Life Skills Counselors to ensure awareness of client needs and adherence to coping strategies implemented.
- Educate AAI staff on mental health barriers, available community resources and steps for handling youth crises.
- Minimum Qualifications
- A master's degree in social work, Family Counseling or other related field eligible for licensure in the State of PA.
- Two or more years' experience working with youth and young adults.
- Knowledge of therapeutic strategies and the DSM manual.
- A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
- Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.
- Licensed by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors Navigator.
- One to two years of experience using any of the following therapeutic methods: Art, Music, Play, Narrative or Experiential.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare system, York County resources and service providers.
- An understanding of the barriers and challenges that youth and their families face within the Child Welfare system.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing: Occasionally
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds: Occasionally
- Moving from one worksite to another: Rare
